Calligraphy: Gothicized Italic with Brigitte Herreran

This script, whose origins lie in cursive medieval Black Letter has a compressed, pointed character with the lively rhythm of Italic.  We will study the basic letter shapes of the miniscules and the essential rhythms of writing and spacing.  Complementing Majuscules will also be reviewed.  Come explore this rich and decorative, often sumptuous style of writing.

Required – This is an intermediate class and some experience in Italic and/or Foundational is required.

Six sessions: Friday’s, 10 am – 12 pm, Sept 30 through Nov 4, 2016.
